What Heavy Duty External Voltage Regulators are Available for Older Dodge and Chrysler Vehicles?

Question:

Help! I have a 1989 dodge D350 and I keep burning up voltage regulators, I have an aftermarket regulator. I have replaced the old wiring, but I would like to put in a 2-wire mechanical VR on the truck. Could you help me select one for my truck?

Answer:

While a mechanical regulator seems like a solution, our C8313 is a heavy duty regulator is a much better choice. It's rated for up to a 7A field draw, where the others have a 3.5A to 5A field draw rating. I would also grab our W210 wiring harness. We upgrade them with larger wires. The stock wiring harness (along with a lot of the aftermarket ones) use smaller, 16-18AWG wires for the ignition and field. We use premium 14AWG wire for the field connections and a monster 12AWG wire for the ignition power line.
