The Larger AD244 will bolt directly in place of your existing 100-105 amp AD230 series unit without any modification. It is recommended that you upgrade the battery wire that connects to the rear of your alternator. You need a bigger wire to get the power out of the alternator and into your battery and electrical system. Our new generation of AD244 are equipped with a heavier "copper" heat sink rectifier and oem quality regulators that just do not go bad! Standard OEM AD244 series high output alternators use 55 amp diodes in the bridge rectifier. In our top quality Heavy Duty AD244 type units we use rectifiers that have 70 amps diodes. Our Extra Heavy Duty version uses the toughest rectifier in the industry consisting of: larger 8mm copper plated battery stud that is silver soldered to the solid copper positive heat sink, making it much more durable over the standard version.

The DR44G unit was used on most GM vehicles after 2005, most DR44G alternators use the 2 pin plug voltage regulator.
The DR44G and AD244 alternators are almost identical except that the bridge rectifier on the AD series is a replaceable component where on the DR44G unit the negative part of the bridge rectifier is built into the rear housing ,so if your negative diodes fail, which they do often, you must replace the complete rear housing, but on the AD series alternator you can just replace the bridge rectifier, and the bridge rectifier fails quite often on high output alternators.

The Bridge Rectifier is the component in every alternator that converts AC current to DC current and is the #1 component to fail. The largest bridge rectifier to go inside of the alternator is rated at 210 amps. Under high demand the rectifier will fail. To combat this problem we developed the Quicktifier dual and tripple rectifier system for greater durability.
The Quicktifier Dual and Triple Rectifier Alternator Upgrade Kit allows you to take any existing alternator and make it an extreme duty dual or triple rectifier alternator. If you simply don't have room for our Extreme Duty Dual Rectifier CS144 alternator, add the Quicktifier 210 Dual or 420 Triple Rectifier Conversion kit.
Run the three AC lines from the AD244 stator leads to the three studs on the Quicktifier's bridge rectifier. Then connect the Quicktifier and your alternator together in parallel. You now have Quicktifier Dual or Triple Rectifier durability on your existing alternator.
